Trump travels to Las Vegas to back Sen. Heller amid push to expand GOP&#039s hold on Senate

President Donald Trump is traveling to Las Vegas on Saturday to fundraise for vulnerable Nevada Republican Sen. Dean Heller as portion of the work to expand the Senate&rsquos majority — something the president has focused on this week as element of the battle with Democrats more than immigration.

Trump is traveling to the glitzy city for a private fundraiser, as nicely as a keynote address to the Nevada GOP convention. He is also anticipated to hold a separate roundtable occasion to promote the tax reform legislation passed in December.

Heller is the only Republican senator in search of re-election in a state won by Trump&rsquos 2016 rival Hillary Clinton. This is 1 of the most closely watched races as Republicans look to expand on their 51-49 majority in the Senate.

He will face Democrat Jacky Rosen, who has outraised and outspent Heller so far, in the November race.

Trump is most likely to get a warm welcome from Republican leaders in the battleground state.

Sen. Dean Heller is a single of the most vulnerable Republicans in the 2018 midterms.

&ldquoIt&rsquos an honor to have a sitting Republican president visit any of our political parties,&rdquo state GOP leader Greg Bailor told the Las Vegas Evaluation-Journal. &ldquoI&rsquom really honored to have the president check out my home state. It&rsquos a big day for me and for our staff.&rdquo

Even so, Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval won&rsquot attend any of the Trump events since he is on a trade mission to Spain, the Assessment-Journal reported.

Trump campaigned this week in Minnesota and next week will make stops in South Carolina and North Dakota. His visit comes as he has known as for a &ldquored wave&rdquo in order to pass an immigration bill in Congress even though railing against the requirement for 60 votes to break a filibuster.

&ldquoRepublicans must stop wasting their time on Immigration till right after we elect much more Senators and Congressmen/ladies in November,&rdquo Trump tweeted. &ldquoDems are just playing games, have no intention of doing something to solves this decades old difficulty. We can pass wonderful legislation soon after the Red Wave!&rdquo

GOP leaders pulled an immigration bill from consideration late Thursday and pushed a vote into subsequent week. But, whilst Trump has invited Democrats to the White Property to go over immigration, he has also indicated that it was pointless till a lot more Republicans are elected.

&ldquoEven if we get one hundred% Republican votes in the Senate, we want 10 Democrat votes to get a much necessary Immigration Bill – &amp the Dems are Obstructionists who won&rsquot give votes for political causes &amp since they don&rsquot care about Crime coming from Border!&rdquo he mentioned. &ldquoSo we need to elect more R&rsquos!&rdquo
