Skin (Insatiable Series) (Volume 1)

Product Description

They say nothing bad ever happens in quaint Askergan County. To Cody Lawrence it sounds like the perfect place for a family winter getaway. But everything 'they' say about Askergan is wrong... dead wrong.

For the first time on record, a blizzard is blowing over Askergan--a storm so powerful that it knocks out a local power line, trapping his family inside with no heat and no electricity.

Cody believes all he has to do is to protect his wife and daughters from frostbite. But when he hears a haunting voice in the blizzard urging him into the storm, he realizes that the stakes are much greater than frozen fingers and toes. Something in the driving snow wont be content until Cody heeds its call and delivers his entire family, presenting the gift of their smooth, supple skin...

Readers describe Skin as:
"...stomach churning..."
"...vivid..."
"...bizarre..."
"...gripping..."
"...engrossing..."

If emotionally flawed characters, crisp dialogue, and action-driven plots turn your crank, then you will enjoy Logan's psychological exploration of how guilt and remorse shape decisions in the face of unspeakable horror.

As a big Lovecraft, Barker and King fan, any weird horror actually, I was looking for something by an author I haven’t read yet. Up pops an advertisement on my Facebook for Skin. I looked at and thought to myself, “That actually sounds good. I’ll give it a go.” I saw that it was part 1 in a series, so I ordered all three, Skin, Crackers and Flesh. Am I glad that I did. I finished all three in a week. I loved the charcters and the situations that they were put in. I could feel the hopelessness that they felt. The creatures were very well done, and I loved their creepiness. I would recommend this series to anyone who reads horror. It draws you in and doesn’t want to let you go.

I found the idea intriguing at first, but the plot dragged out and each chapter became repetitive. It was filled with gross, graphic descriptions, leaving nothing to the reader’s imagination (which the author gave us no credit of having). It was like watching a B Film on a Saturday morning’s “Creature Double Feature”.

This was a good and creepy sci-fi read from what seems to be a new author, and I’m looking forward to seeing more from him in the near future. Logan shows a unique ability to paint vivid pictures of his characters and their situations with his use of well placed metaphors and naturally flowing dialogue. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into a new, young author of fiction. A few days after my read and some of the scenes are still running through my head. Nice work!
