‘Pokémon GO’ Honors the Lunar New Year with a Safari Zone Event in Taiwan

Pokémon (is a media franchise managed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese consortium between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures) GO [Free] is gearing up for the Lunar New Year. There will be a special Safari Zone Event (may refer to) in Taiwan later this month and it will be at the Chiayi Lantern (the term lantern is used to describe many types of portable lighting, but lanterns originated as a protective enclosure for a light source – usually a candle – to make it easier to carry and hang) Festival (festival is an event ordinarily celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect of that community and its religion or traditions). The event will (may refer to) see Drantini, Mr Mime, Growlithe, and more appear alongside lanterns during the day. Once evening (5 PM) hits, Chinchou and Lanturn will start showing up. Outside the Safari Event Zone (or The Zone or In the Zone may refer to), there will be more Pokémon to find around the rest of Chiayi County.

The Safari Zone Event will take place in Taiwan at the Chiayi Lantern Festival. This event is being hosted by the Chiayi County government and will go on from February 26th until March 3rd. In addition to gazing at the lanterns in the festival, you can now get some quality Pokémon GO time in while celebrating.
While this event is in Chiayi County, some people have reported success with using a VPN in Pokémon GO but it depends on how the VPN functions and even on the phone model if you’re on Android. If this does work for you, let us know in the comments. Check out our forum thread on Pokémon GO here for more discussion around it.
