Kavanaugh confirmation sparks sharp reaction from celebrities

The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court drew sharp reactions from Hollywood celebrities.

The Senate on Saturday, in a 50-48 vote largely along party lines, voted to confirm Kavanaugh to the nation&#x2019s highest court and he was sworn in as a justice hours later.

Kavanaugh&#x2019s nomination procedure has been plagued in current weeks by sexual misconduct allegations made by three girls. The 1st of them was Christine Blasey Ford, who accused him of assaulting her at a celebration in high school and later testified on Capitol Hill about her claims. Kavanaugh has denied the allegations against him.

Comedian and speak-show host Ellen DeGeneres on Saturday talked about Ford in a tweet, saying &#x201CYou put your self via so considerably and I want you to know it wasn&#x2019t in vain.&#x201D

&#x201CYou began a movement and we&#x2019ll see it by way of. If they won&#x2019t listen to our voices, then they&#x2019ll listen to our vote,&#x201D she continued.

Actor&#xA0James Wood, however, showed his support for the new Supreme Court justice, tweeting &#x201CJustice. Kavanaugh. #winning&#x201D

Actor Jim Carrey took to Twitter, urging individuals to vote in the midterm elections to &#x201Cavenge&#x201D Ford.

Kathy Griffin echoed that sentiment, tweeting: &#x201CWhat a terrible day in American history.&#x201D

Reese Witherspoon also took to Twitter, writing that she &#x201CCant wait for November!&#x201D

Lena Dunham,&#xA0meanwhile, responded just with a broken heart emoji.
