The new Dell XPS 15 is a freaking gorgeous laptop. But is it all appears, or is there some meaty, chewy center underneath all that blasted aluminum and carbon fiber? I wouldn’t know, I didn’t try to chew it. Almost certainly would have place a damper on the overview.

What’s on your desk?
Currently on my desk…

For the curious, that’s two 23&quot cinema displays connected to a (not shown) dual G4 PowerMac with 1/2 a terabyte of disk space. Laptops: in the back an ancient Dell Latitude (1998, I believe), a G4 15&quot &quottitanium&quot PowerBook in target mode and my 1st generation black MacBook.

Programs shown: Safari, Finder, TextMate (I feel), Mail.app, the Windows XP installer and Adium.

  3. sadbutterfly808 says:

  4. Kevin Lee says:

I believe it’s also 100% Adobe RGB? That’s the only thing making me lean towards this laptop as a photographer

  5. Marcelus23 says:

I want this with GTX 1050 for same money!!!!!

  6. Grangy27 says:

Awaiting a XPS 15 coming in the mail. Hope the annoying glitches have been resolved. Agree with comments about the GTX 1060 – would be the icing on the cake!

  7. Jordan Truppner says:

you are so damn awkward. Jesus dude. Quit trying to be Linus.

  8. Uber/Tube says:

What bothers me the most is that review channels always review the highest most expensive model possible. Considering that more than 60% of buyers are students, I don’t most can afford a $2100 laptop.

  9. Top5ForLife says:

    That hair thoo

  10. noname says:

fuck this shit they screwed it all up. why 2gb of ram why. this would have been perfect god damn it

  11. Michael Daleo says:

Really random question, what model is the MSI you compared the XPS 15 too?!

  12. Tom Liu says:

This is the model to fight MacBook Pro 2015

  13. havochari says:

Can you suggest me a laptop with the same screen size (15.6") and touchscreen for use at home? Also, it would be better if it had a decent performance for gaming.
I have an Alienware M17x R4 which is no more at home. I am planning to gift this laptop to my parents. Usage wouldnt be performance demanding. Thanks

  14. juan perdomo says:

I always think That the people saying negative things about Dell is Because They dont take good care of the laptop, Until NOW, that It Has Happened to me !! and i do take good care of it !!. Bought at US 1,600 Dell XPS 9550 at MICROSOFT store in Manhattan. I live in the caribbean, and after 3 months the hard disk died. I lost all my info !!!. Latin America dell service changed the hard disk, and after 1 week , the mother board died !!! Blue screen every time it gets a little hot. !!! 3 months after buying it and they dont want to change me the laptop !!. They want to fix it, and I am sure, it will die again soon.
WONT BUY DELL NEVER IN MY LIFE TIME or any family or friend around. !! They say replacement warranty is only for 30 days as you can read at their page. 1 year is for fixing. How can you say a client that has bougth a us1,600 fabric defective laptop , and only has 3 months using the laptop, that you are sorry , that they can only fix THEIR DEFECTIVE LAPTOP!!, and you will have to go to fix it every time it dies, until the year pass and then good bye.

  15. Steve says:

MINOR ISSUE ROFL. WIFI and MOUSE – who needs them, Internet and User Input is totally overrated anyway. ROFL Crap DELL. Not even Trashbin worthy.

  16. sadbutterfly808 says:

The dell updates are terrible! I don’t know what programmers work at dell, but they SUCK!! Dell programmers SUCK!!!!!!!!

  17. HunterAMVs says:

    rip skipable ads

  18. DelBoy573 says:

Im looking for a laptop to mainly do photo and 4K video editing on. I saw this model with 32gb ram, do you think that will cut it?

  19. Ruturaj says:

I was planing to buy one but since new GPUs (with die shrink and incredible performance and efficiency improvments) are arriving, skipped this generation (also not fan of first generation of products).

  20. Fadzreez says:

I was thinking to buy this laptop, my msi px60 2qd looks old for me with 5th gen i7 and gtx950, this bazzeless xps is get me into it, is it worth to upgrade?

  21. Jessi O says:

OMG He has an amazingly beautiful face.. So not fair… Any ways whats the battery life stats ? thanks

  22. Jonathan Plugaru says:

I’ve had this computer for 5 months and it has been nothing but problems. Computer won’t shut down/sleep/hibernate as it will automatically restart and now I’m having a problem where when I close the lid for 10 minutes instead of waking up it restarts, losing all my work. Then there’s the screen flicker issue. And how about the internet connections dropping randomly. I am completely disappointed and extremely frustrated in this product and feel as if I have been robbed of my money. Not worth a single penny of the $2,200 I spent for shit. I have been working with Dell support for over two months now and they still have not been able to resolve my issue. Even after reinstalling the operating system I have plenty of issues with it. I gave Dell a second chance but seems as if I stand corrected; they continue to produce junk and rip people off with their shit. Not sure if anybody else has had these problems but this is unacceptable

  23. Kevin Raimond says:

Great machine on most things. However, some of my 3rd part software won’t display properly – spoke with Dell and 3rd party software peeps. Some sort of conflict with the screen, graphic/video card and software. Changing resolution and text/font size won’t correct. Bummer for me… Hoping 3rd party software will eventually update software.

  24. Chandler Campbell says:

    Wtf is 1152p

  25. Waseem Mehany says:

Your review is the best out of all that I’ve seen!

  26. Jeff Sapia says:

This laptop is awesome. Display is wild and nothing will do it justice other than seeing it in person. Dell did an awesome job on it. This is coming from a guy who vowed never to buy a dell again.

  27. Misael David says:

what version is the HDMI port of this xps 15 9950? can it support 4k @ 60hz?

  28. Salty Goal says:

I just wish this had a gtx 1060.

  29. Clyde Vicencio says:

So by switching to 1080p will make the battery lasts of the dell xps 15 4K??

  30. Tron Kat says:

I want to.meet people who actually like and use track.pads

  31. Zimba's Doom Corner says:

I like how you read that stats in: Metric, metric, metric,….and standard

My father has this for work and im sitting here with my avadirect clevo w860cu…

  33. Mason K says:

This is my first time watching their video, but it’s very… Linus-y..

  34. Noel Agarap says:

someone is selling his XPS 15 to me. But with 8GB ram and 256GB SSD version.. I really love the specs except the storage. Is it upgradable? tnx

  35. ngsteven97 says:

Does anyone know when the late 2016 version of the XPS 15 is coming out? I wanna get one for university since I am doing engineering and so I need CAD software, etc and I reckon that I would benefit from the new CPUs and the 1060/70/80 GPUs but I need to get the laptop by early October so was wondering if it would be out by then

  36. Mika Nakashima says:

someone tell me.. 4 criteria What makes XPS 9550( i5 & i7) expensive?

  37. Ronald's World and Opinions says:

I think I’ll grab this thing. This thing is sharp and has a crystal clear 4K screen. It’ll help with dealing with GoPro 4K videos. Just don’t expect this thing to do heavy gaming. My lenovo y700 can do that. Same video card you’ll find on this computer but more vRAM. Games can be played on ultra settings on there. Funny that I have the same processor on that lenovo that is found on here. it’s only a screen upgrade for me. they have pretty much the same build quality.

  38. raj says:

    thanks!!

  39. Person74 says:

Isn’t it cheaper to get the Inspiron 7559 (i7) (4K) and buy 8 more gigs of ram and an SSD?

  40. Agent Smith says:

    does it support linux?

  41. Lekael Lxi says:

    Subscribed!

  42. Gyuris Tamás says:

Damn.. I cannot focus on the review itself because this guy is just so insanely beautiful..:D

  43. jason jiang says:

I wanna give this laptop a shot but I heard so much negative reviews about this laptop after a few months… and that dell support sucks :/. but that screen though looks so pretty

  44. UAV Man says:

Had the XPS 15 for a few months now and although I can’t really fault the specs even with some slight upgrades I’ve added, I would WARN you that if you crack the glass it WILL cost you. I’ve just had to pay £600.00 (GBP) for a new display after just a digitizer breakage… BASICALLY get the accidental cover!!

  45. Richard Van says:

Can someone reccommend me a laptop that cab run heavy programs like Inventor or Solid works?

  46. LivinThaDream says:

Thanks for the review NCIX Tech Tips, great job. I would totally buy this if i needed a laptop right now, and if the device hardware issues you mentioned were fixed up. Personally, I wish these higher end machines had oled displays.

  47. izerrick common says:

    Does this laptop support HDR

  48. Mogen Cheng says:

    LOL this video

  49. Ash Gupta says:

Reliability is more important to me than features. My current Toshiba laptop has been running flawlessly for 7 years.

  50. Charles Labutong says:

    Good job!!! Informative:
