Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Okay, so the long holiday weekend meant lots of great sales, but the other side of that is that there weren’t a whole ton of updates. I did what I could here. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in!

Pinball Arcade Plus, $0.99 While this month’s new tables probably aren’t going to be among the most popular on the Pinball Arcade, I think the game’s usefulness as a sort of historical archive of pinball demands the odd foray into deeper cuts. This time, it’s a pair of tables from the electromagnetic era of Williams machines. Spanish Eyes is a 1972 table with some really funky cabinet art, while Wild Card is a 1977 table built around a saloon gambling theme. Those who get their kicks off of the 90s era of pinball might find these a bit quaint, but there’s a certain pure joy to them, I think. As usual, you’ll have to buy these tables via IAPs.
Shooty Skies, Free Apart from some fixes for the iPhone X, this update mainly focuses on the new intensity selection feature. There are four different levels of intensity to choose from, so if you want things a little slower-paced and relaxed, you can do that. If you want something that will rock your face in its tinier face’s face, that’s also an option. If you roll on the higher intensity, you can get some bonus Golden Tickets each day. That should offer some reasonable incentive to push yourself past your perceived limits, yes?
Plants vs. Zombies™ 2, Free Yes, this game pretty much shambles from one event to the next, but what more can you do to keep people from noticing how dull it has gotten? The next event is of course the Christmas one, or as we’re calling it here, Feastivus. Little Seinfeld, little eating reference, and you’re all set. There are some new quests to clear, and a new premium plant you can buy called the Holly Barrier. In addition, the Sap-fling and Missile-Toe are coming out of the vault for purchase if you missed them before. This event starts on December 5th, so you have some time to move your money around if necessary.
Cooking Dash™, Free Ah, the glitz and glamor of year-end awards. Tis the season, my friends, to choose your very favorite things from this year and battle each other to the pain of death to determine whose opinion is more objectively correct. But I’m getting off-track again, aren’t I? Anyway, the latest update to Cooking Dash brings the Golden Saucer Awards to the game. Complete goals in various venues to earn some sweet rewards. Mostly boosts, mind you, but what else are you looking for? A free pony? Ponies aren’t free, friends. Yeesh. At any rate, for lack of any better options, I suppose I’ll give Cooking Dashh a coveted UMMSotW award this time around.

The Sandbox Evolution, Free While Sandbox Evolution has had its fair share of showy themed updates, this one gets back to the nitty-gritty of adding a bunch of stuff for almost any tastes. There are more than 20 new elements to play around with here, including but not limited to: sailboats, potassium, shield power-ups, more diverse humans, flutes and drums, a new Pac-Man ghost, and more. Truly a melange of mirth, chums! Try putting them all together and see what comes out. Maybe brown goo? Probably brown goo!
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Classic, Free This entry more than anything else demonstrates just how hard of a time I had filling out this week’s list in light of the holidays. What’s new here? Well, the game is free with ad support now, so if you weren’t able to find a few bucks in the past couple of years, your patience has paid off. If you bought the game before, you can restore purchases to get it back the way it was. If you didn’t buy it before but want to kill the ads, you can do that too. In any case, this is still a grand port of Sonic 2, and its 25th anniversary last week is as good a reason as any to play it again.
ENYO, Free ENYO might not be as famous as some of the other games from Tinytouchtales, but it’s got that same brand of quality that makes games like Card Crawl and Card Thief so great. This latest update adds a few new goodies to the game to freshen it up. There are three new enemies you’ll have to learn to reckon with, along with a new mode called Odyssee that has you up against specific challenges. For good measure, this update also fixes a few bugs and makes a couple of other little tweaks.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
